Political Fix host Lucy Fisher was joined by Inside Politics’ author Stephen Bush, political editor George Parker and columnist Camilla Cavendish for a subscriber webinar on May 8 looking ahead to the UK’s general election.

The expert panel took readers’ questions days after the May 2 local and mayoral elections produced a grim set of results for the Conservatives that did nothing to dent expectations of a Labour victory after 14 years in opposition.

The panel discussed when an election might be held and whether Labour was really on course for a resounding victory or whether there was anything the exhausted and divided Tory party could do to avert that. They picked apart the differences — and similarities — between the main parties’ policy proposals and what their priorities would be in government, or in opposition.
